Upcoming Inquiry: Northern Culture Untapped

An inquiry into the Great North’s cultural capital 

BREAKING DOWN THE BARRIERS TO GROWTH  AND TURBOCHARGING THE  NORTH’S GREAT CULTURAL ECONOMY

This Northern Culture Untapped Inquiry will look specifically at addressing the barriers to unlocking the Great North’s cultural capital and explore the challenges of embedding culture within the context of full-fat devolution.

We invite written evidence from all those working to rebalance the North’s cultural capital spanning the creative industries, higher education, combined and local authorities, cultural and heritage institutions, sports organisations, and grassroots community groups.

The Northern Culture APPG wants to hear evidence on the contribution the cultural sector makes to unlocking economic growth across the Great North.

There will be 3 evidence sessions geared to addressing 3 questions:

1. Are devolved powers a problem or solution to unlocking the North’s cultural capital?

2. Why is the Great North’s cultural capital  essential to unlocking the future talent pipeline?

3. What investment models can better support the cultural sector from tourist taxes to devolved funding?
